Operation Sindhu: IAF airlifts 268 Indians from conflict-hit Israel

In yet another successful phase of Operation Sindhu, the Indian Air Force (IAF) safely airlifted 268 Indian nationals from Israel, amid escalating conflict in the region. The evacuation was coordinated by the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv in close cooperation with the Ministry of External Affairs and defense officials in India.

The evacuees include professionals, students, pilgrims, and visitors. Many of whom had been anxiously waiting for a safe way out as the security situation worsened. The special IAF aircraft landed in India earlier this week, providing a much needed relief for families both in India and among the NRI community abroad.

For the Indian diaspora, especially those with family members in Israel, this evacuation is more than just a logistical win, it’s a reassurance that India remains proactive in protecting its citizens, wherever they are. Many NRIs across Europe and North America have lauded the government’s coordination and speed, viewing it as a sign of deepening global accountability to overseas Indians.

This mission also comes as part of a broader effort under Operation Sindhu, which has now safely repatriated over 1,700 citizens from both Iran and Israel in a span of just days.

India has advised its citizens to avoid non-essential travel to high-risk zones and to register with local embassies for the most updated safety protocols.
